There is one place that feels like my spiritual home in Iceland and I have stayed there for part of my trip every time I have travelled so far. The stunning Golden Circle Summerhouse on Airbnb owned by dear Bjork is one of the most stunning places I have ever stayed. The location ticks all of my photography boxes, it is remote and surrounded by breath-taking scenery on the Olfusa River. Then you go inside and the dreamy white interior, underfloor heating and vast living space is flooded with lush light. The kitchen is so well equipped and the sumptuous sofas are the perfect spot to chill, listening to music through the integrated sound system that takes an iPhone! The beds are so comfy, that you feel you could sleep for years and the remoteness is epic for the chance of aurora spotting. Each time I have stayed, I have seen the aurora every time – best spotted from the front door looking north! It really is somewhere that sits on my dream board of one day owning a place of my own like this in Iceland, but until I do, I shall enjoy staying at Bjork’s amazing property. These photos are mainly of the landscape and aurora around the property and the airbnb link is full of the photos inside to walk you round what to expect!
This is one of my favourite photos I’ve taken in Iceland, it was the first photo on our first morning waking up in Iceland. Mark had just made a coffee in the machine and poured us both a cup and then we stepped outside to watch the sunrise at about 9.30am with this vast view opening up in front of us. We had arrived in the dark and so had no idea what joy was going to await us when the light started to fill the skies. Its fair to say it was love at first sight.
