The magazine featured some images of the stunning floral crown by Emma Campbell and the gorgeous bridal hair by Jennifer from Obsessions Salon. Top hairdressers like Jen say floral crowns are tipped to be hot in 2014. Three of my brides have worn florals in their hair this year and I am so excited to see if anyone goes for such a big do like the one Faye rocked at our Northdown House Styled Shoot.

It was such a perfect venue for their day. I totally loved all of the groom’s party in their braces and bow ties and most of all Dan in his shorts…perfect attire for this relaxed day! The light was just beautiful in the late evening so we popped out for a few portraits bathed in the golden glow.

This is such a beautiful wedding venue and I just can say enough lovely things about Clare and her team there. The really care for their couples so much so that they name a tree on the couple’s first anniversary and I had the pleausre of meeting Jono & Lucy who got to name their tree exactly one year on from their big day!

Well hello Mrs B, thanks for stopping by to talk all about flowers. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself….

I am a freelance florist based in the Bexleyheath area of Kent. I have trained at the highly reputable Hadlow College in Kent where I have gained my NVQ Level 2 and ANC Level 3 floristry certificates. I have a real passion for flowers which shows in my enthusiastic approach to my work and clients. I have a natural flair for design and colour and will give each arrangement my fullest attention to detail.

What is the most exciting project that you have worked on?
I think this must have been the very first Wedding I did – terrifyingly exciting !!! And never realised how scary it was to be a Wedding Florist ! But it went really well and loved the feeling of how much they enjoyed my work!

What do you think the best part of your job is?
For me, it’s always about the designing !! I love pulling together the flowers and colours to suit the couple and create and interpret ‘their vision’ and always find it so exciting.

What are the hottest trends for blooms going into 2014?
So far, I’m getting a mixed bag for 2014. Foliages are getting more popular to go along with the ‘just picked’ look. Vintage is definately still here but with more vibrant colours or mixed colours as opposed to the subtle vintage we have seen over recent years.

What top tips do you have for couples when they are thinking about their flowers?
Be adventurous and go for it !!! 3 colours or more look fantastic and will show up better in your photos too. Don’t be afraid when your florist says ‘seasonal flowers’, they are generally the best value for money and certainly the best quality. One last thing, when colour matching (ribbon’s to dresses etc ) don’t get too right !! as the different shades of colour works so very well!! Above all else – have fun with it all.

Lisa said ‘having the engagement shoot with you in the bluebell woods was like being in our very own fairytale. We regularly go walking together in the countryside, so the setting couldn’t have been more fitting for us as a couple. Both of us are relatively shy, but you put us at ease and we had such a fun evening walking through the woods and the scent of the bluebells was just amazing! Planning a wedding together can be such a busy affair, but having that time on the shoot was such an enjoyable and relaxing way to celebrate our engagement and we also have some beautiful images to look back on with our good memories.’

Hi Jennie, thanks for stopping by today. I totally love your work, you’re so blooming creative and it would be great if you could tell me a little bit about yourself…

 What has been the most exciting project you’ve worked on?

Hello! It’s lovely to talk to you  :) Well.. I must admit the recent Victoriana styled shoots were a dream to work on as I got to go absolutely design crazy and create some really unusual designs. Popcorn boxes and cinema tickets, vintage telegrams and suitcases. It was so much fun.

How do you work with your couples to understand their ideas for your bespoke designs?

 I love helping couples to create stationery around a theme that completely suits them. But don’t worry you don’t need to have an idea to begin with. I’ve helped brides who have had no idea what they want.

To start with I’ll get you to complete a questionnaire so I can learn a bit about you and your partner. We’ll go on to discuss any hobbies, likes and dislike you may have and finally, if you’re into that kind of thing, we’ll create a mood board via the wonder that is Pinterest. We’ll do all of this over email or skype if you’d prefer a face to face natter!

Once that’s done I’ll beaver away on some designs I think are fitting and then I’ll send them to you to take a look at. Once you’ve ooo’d and ahhh’d over them we can make any changes you like to come up with your perfect design.

I also have a range of personalised off the peg designs if that’s a little more your style!

What do you think are the hottest trends for wedding stationery in 2014?

With the recent success of the Great Gatsby film, Art Deco is definitely proving popular at the moment. 

Things are also swinging back to a more traditional, classic style after the recent vintage-y, retro fun of the last couple of years. So neat lines, chevrons, polka dots, stripes to name a few.

And as for colours, metallics  are really hot alongside strong colours such as dark purples, black, bright yellow, blush pink and deep blues.

If you had one top tip for couples who are thinking about their wedding stationery what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to try something different! Your wedding is all about you and your partner and your stationery will be the first glimpse your guests get into your big day and what it’s going to be like. Let your personalities and style shine out.
